Farmer-Guided Vegetable Picking Tour

    As the children arrive, we will gather in our out-door classroom area. The tour will commence with an orientation of the days events followed by a short educational story. We will discuss the different kinds of veggies that will be seen growing, and what is in season for picking that day. Your tour guide will be able to answer any questions the children may have. After approximately 30 minutes, your group will have a tractor-drawn wagon ride around the entire farm where the children will see & learn about other crops and production activities. The wagon ride will last approximately 30 minutes and will drop the children off in the field where they will experience first-hand what is growing. The children will each receive a plastic bag with handles to put their fresh pickings in to take home with them. When everybody has picked at least three different kinds of vegetables, we will re-board the wagon for a ride back to our grass area with covered picnic areas where those who have brought a packed lunch will be able to sit and eat. Some refreshments are available in our Farm Market.  After the picnic, the children will be able to see, touch, and learn about our different farm animals in our Farm Animal Center*. At the end of the tour each child will receive a farm activity coloring book to take home.

*Attractions in the Animal Center are an additional fee.

Cost:   $7.00 per person.
Total time: 2 1/2 hours.
(Approx. 1.5 hrs + 1 hour for time at the picnic area & Animal Center)
