Farmer-Guided Strawberry
Picking Tour
Much the same as the vegetable picking tour, the
strawberry picking tour starts with an educational discussion
(approximately30 minutes) covering the different
fruits grown on the farm, e.g. strawberries, blackberries, raspberries,
and oranges; just to name a
few. We will talk about the difference between fruits & vegetables and have a
short educational story. Your group will then have a tractor-drawn wagon ride around the entire farm. The wagon ride will last
approximately 30 minutes and will drop the children off in the strawberry patch, where
each childwill receive a container with a lid to pick strawberriesto take
home with them. Depending on what is in season, we may also pick some blackberries or
other fruits as a special surprise. Once everyone’s container is full, we will
re-board the wagon for a ride back to our grass area with covered picnic
tables, where those who
have brought a packed lunch will be able to sit and eat. Some refreshments are available
in our Farm Market. After the picnic, the children will be able to see, touch, and learn about our different farm animals
in our Farm Animal Center*. At
the end of the tour each child will receive a farm activity coloring book to take home.
*Attractions
in the Animal Center are an additional fee.
Cost: $7.00 per person.
Total time at Farm:
2.5 hours.
(Approx. 1.5 hrs + 1 hour for time at the picnic area & Animal Center)
